Charlotte and Simon’s Wedding

martin | Weddings | Wednesday, April 29th, 2009

Last Saturday we had the privilege of photographing Charlotte and Simon’s wedding at Rushton Hall. Rushton Hall is one of the best places to photograph a wedding, especially when the weather is kind like it was last weekend. Charlotte and Simon were a joy to work with, tolerating some of my crazier ideas and as a result we’ve got some spectacular pictures to show them when they get back from honeymoon in Las Vegas.

I’m featuring two of Karen’s shots to start with – both caught moments.  Karen has a great knack of staying unobtrusive while the girls are getting ready.  She’s also a terrific calming influence – helping out if  things get a little fraught.  These are two classic moments.  In the first I love mum Sue’s expression in the background as she looks at her beautiful daughter.  The second shot sums up the emotional moment when dad Peter saw his daughter as a bride for the first time.

Northamptonshire registrars have recently relaxed their ‘no photography’ rules so we can now photograph the ring exchange and the first kiss.  That’s a welcome step in the right direction and allowed us to create this image of the newly weds:

Here’s a classic Martin and Karen bride and groom portrait with a twist:  the high angle allowing the water lilies of the boating lake to make an interesting background to this shot.  Nearly broke my neck taking this so I’m glad it worked so well:

Detail shot showing the beautiful yet simple table setting:

Charlotte with Maid of Honour Nicola:

First dance.  I always try to do something funky with the first dance shots (Karen is capturing the ’straight’ shots in case mine don’t work out).  This one worked well:

Finally one of our signature images – the bride and groom outside the floodlit venue at night.  Karen lit the bride and groom while I took the shot.

I hope you enjoyed this photographs.  Feel free to leave a comment using the link below.

John and Jerilee’s Wedding

martin | Weddings | Friday, April 24th, 2009

This was a wedding with a difference for us, since we were invited as guests to our good friends John and Jerliee’s wedding in Yorkshire.  As they hadn’t booked a photographer our gift to them is a collection of photographs of which these are some of our favourites.  We didn’t photograph all day – and Karen had a day off :) So we had plenty of chance to enjoy the company, weather, surroundings and plenty of pink fizz :)

Here are the pictures, hope you enjoy them.

The registrars in Skipton were some of the most pleasant and helpful I’ve ever come across.  Its the first time I’ve ever been invited by the registrar to step forward and take a close-up of the ring exchange as it happens. At some of this years other weddings we won’t be allowed to to take any photographs at all during the ceremony.

The reception for close friends and family was held at Amerdale House Hotel which is in Arncliffe in the heart of Littondale.  This is our favourite dale and far less busy than nearby Wharfedale.  I was spoilt for choice for beautiful locations only a few yards from the hotel.

Cherry and Jamie’s Wedding

martin | Weddings | Sunday, April 12th, 2009

We had a great  day on Thursday photographing Cherry and Jamie’s wedding at Woburn.  Although it was slightly damp it was a fabulous day at The Sculpture Gallery in the company of lovely people.  The Gallery is a wonderful venue for a wedding and looked superb with Cherry and Jamie’s simple and stylish table decorations.  Cherry looked simply stunning in her Ian Stuart Bride dress.

Karen’s day started with the girls getting ready.  Martin was with Jamie and brother Neil at Woburn Golf Club where they enjoyed a round on the Marquess Course.

Here are some of my favourite pictures.  The set ends with a special Infra Red image of Cherry and Jamie outside the gallery.
