Olivia and Nick’s Winter Wedding – Snowy Wedding Photographs in Harpenden and Woburn

martin | Weddings | Thursday, December 24th, 2009

Wow what a wonderful wedding. A fresh fall of snow timed to perfection caused a few travel issues but made a spectacular backdrop for the perfect winter wedding. Liv and Nick were married at St Nicholas’ Church in Harpenden and their reception was at The Sculpture Gallery at Woburn Abbey.  Their wedding had a Christmas theme and colour scheme with the reds of the girls’ flowers looking spectacular against the snow.  Despite a few travel delays meaning it was nearly dark by the time we got to Woburn there was still time for a few pictures outside in the snow.  Sub zero temperatures meant we had to work quickly. We always love weddings but there is something extra special about a wedding in the snow.  To cap a brilliant weekend I rejoined the wedding party the following morning to take a few pictures during their walk through the deer park back through the gallery to collect their cars.

So many pictures that I’d like to share here but we need to keep some surprises for Liv and Nick’s viewing after their honeymoon.  Here’s a sneak preview of a few of my favourites.

Kay and Adam – Greek Orthodox Wedding Photography in Coventry

martin | Weddings | Wednesday, November 11th, 2009

Kay and Adam were married a few weeks ago at the Greek Orthodox Church of the Holy Transfiguration in Coventry. They had their reception at the Forest of  Arden Hotel.

As well as her normal detail and reportage shots of the morning preparations  Karen had the privilege of photographing Kay’s traditional morning blessing  ceremony at her home.  I had a slightly less busy morning – hanging out with the guys while they got ready and setting up some cool group shots against the moody sky.

The Greek Orthodox wedding ceremony is a fantastic experience as we were lucky enough to be able to photograph in the church throughout from two angles. Part of Kay and Adam’s ceremony was conducted by an English-speaking priest which made it especially enjoyable.

Unfortunately the heavy skies turned in to rain later in the day though the heavy stuff stayed away until we’d taken a few group shots and everyone was safely in the reception venue.

Kay and Adam are a lovely couple and it we had a great time photographing their wedding.  Luckily for us we knew what to expect because once the party started it didn’t stop! Non stop dancing was the order of the day, including the traditional ‘money dance’.

We hope you enjoy these photos as much as we did taking them.  There’s more photographs than usual in this post because Kay and Adam have already seen their full set of  images and made their album selection.  Click the ‘more’ link below to see the rest of this post or visit the online gallery for this wedding to see all 360 images.

Sue and Nathan’s Wedding at Higham Ferrers and Rushton Hall

martin | Weddings | Tuesday, October 27th, 2009

Sue and Nathan were married last Month at St Mary The Virgin Church in Higham Ferrers.  Their reception was at Rushton Hall which is one of our favourite places to photograph.  The day started with Karen at Rushton Hall with the girls getting ready.  Meanwhile I met Nathan at the hairdresser in Northampton.  That was a first for me :) Sue’s hair was  by Gemma Hensman who is also Karen’s hairdresser.

There was a small panic at the church when the guy’s button holes turned up late.  A couple of minutes before the ceremony I was putting on Nathan and his best man’s buttonholes.  That’s not unusual – but doing it with Sue due to arrive any minute was :)

Unfortunately St Mary’s is one of the churches that does not allow photography during the ceremony.  But they do allow video.  So I filmed the ceremony on my HD camera and took some stills from the video.  There’s a sample below.

Back at Rushton Hall we had a great time exploring the grounds and the interior of the hall for our signature bride and groom pictures.  Sue and Nathan had fireworks which was another great photo opportunity.

Our day ended with a five-minute photo shoot in the cellar bar.  Added some colourful light to create the shot that ends this set.

We had a fabulous day with Sue and Nathan.  We’d looked forward to their wedding for over eighteen months and it didn’t disappoint.  They’ve chosen a brilliant set of pictures for their album which is going to be quite spectacular.

You can see their complete set of wedding pictures here
